Snapchat: instructions for use

How to use Snapchat? Here's how to take advantage of the features offered by Snapchat. All the details in this tutorial.

Install Snapchat

Start by installing the application by going to find it on the Google Play Store, for those who have Android. If you don't know how to install an app on Android, I advise you to read this tutorial: Install and uninstall an application on Android. For those who have an Iphone, the handling is similar.

Register

Once installed, start the application. Click “Register” to register if you are new to Snapchat, otherwise log in and go to the next step. Indicate your e-mail address, a password and your birthday, click on “Registration” to validate. Then choose a username and click “Continue”. You can enter your phone number but this step can be skipped.

Add contacts

When you are on the main screen of the app, you should see yourself through your phone's front camera, if you have one. Slide the screen down. Now you have two choices: “Add Friends” to add friends by searching for them by their nickname, or “My Contacts” for the app to scan your contacts and indicate which ones are using Snapchat.

Create and send a Snap

On the main app screen, tap the circle at the bottom of the screen to take a photo, or press and hold to shoot. The maximum length of a video is 10 seconds. Once your photo or video has been created, set the duration of the Snap validated, that is to say, the duration during which the recipient will be able to watch your photo or video before it is destroyed. You can also add text on the image, draw, or apply filters. When your Snap is ready, click on the arrow at the bottom right of the screen. Choose one or more contacts to whom you will send your Snap. Once the choice has been made, validate by clicking once again on the arrow at the bottom right of the screen. Your Snap has been sent, you can return to the main screen by pressing the back button on your phone.

Read a Snap

On the main screen of the application, when you have received one or more Snap, a red square indicating the number of unread Snap is displayed. Click on this square to see your pending Snap. To play a Snap, you must tap the Snap to view it. When a Snap contains multiple photos or videos, you can switch to the next media by clicking anywhere on the screen.

Snapchat has a multitude of functions. Leave a comment for details on the other functions.
